Dear valued friends, followers, and fellow fabric feelers,
It has come to our attention, thanks to the diligent scholars of the internet, that the word “cuddlability” is… well… not technically a word in the official dictionary.
We know. We’re shocked too.
Where You’ve Seen “Cuddlability” Around Here
We couldn’t resist sharing our love of cuddlability all over Instagram, from playful posts showing Storm cozying up in our hoodies, to Stories where we put our fabrics to the ultimate snuggle test.
If you follow us @apawrel.official, you’ve probably spotted “cuddlability” popping up in captions, reels, and even in our doggy-approved hoodie demos. It’s become our go to word for describing that perfect mix of softness, warmth, and irresistible snuggliness.
And while a recent poll agrees the word is real, it turns out this is not yet the case.
An Open (and Slightly Sheepish) Apology Regarding the Word “Cuddlability”
Apparently, the closest legitimate cousin is “cuddlable”, which was officially submitted to the Collins Dictionary in March 2024 and is currently “under observation” like a suspiciously fluffy cloud. While it waits in the linguistic departure lounge for official boarding, “cuddlability” hasn’t even gotten a ticket.
We’d like to issue a heartfelt apology for any emotional distress caused to grammar purists, English teachers, or anyone who has ever lost sleep over non-dictionary words (we see you, Scrabble champions).
However… in our defence… “cuddlability” perfectly describes something we test for here at Apawrel. Our chief fabric tester, Storm (yes, the Yorkshire Terrier with impeccable taste), runs The Official Apawrel™ Cuddlability Test on all hoodie fabrics. Only those that pass with flying colours, or rather, flying paws, make it to our shelves.
And so, for the record, here’s how “cuddlability” would appear if the dictionary folk shared our sense of priority:
cud·dla·bil·i·ty
/ˈkʌd.ləˌbɪl.ə.ti/ noun
1. Suitable or pleasant to cuddle; the quality of inviting or being enjoyable to cuddle with.
2. The measurable standard by which Apawrel determines whether a garment is worthy of Storm’s snuggly seal of approval.
Example: "The cuddlability of this hoodie is off the charts, I may never take it off.”
Until the day “cuddlability” finds its rightful home in the dictionary, we’ll continue to use it shamelessly, because some words are just too good not to exist.

Disclaimer:
While “cuddlability” is not (yet!) recognised by any official dictionary, it is 100% recognised by Apawrel, Storm the Yorkshire Terrier, and anyone who has ever judged a hoodie by how good it feels to snuggle into. This post is intended for entertainment, education, and the advancement of very important dog-approved vocabulary. Any offence taken by grammar purists is purely coincidental, and possibly eased by wearing something exceptionally cuddlable.
